Maltipoo puppies from reputable Indiana breeders typically cost between $1,500 and $3,000. Breeders who focus on health-testing parents through OFA-certifications, for example, may ask for higher prices up. Pricing varies based on coat type, color, and size (the smaller they are bred, the more money they may cost). Rare coat colors like chocolate, red, and apricot often price higher than cream and white. At Posh Puppies Indiana, our Maltipoo puppies come from OFA health-tested parents and usually range between $750 to upwards of $4,000. We are happy to share the details of any puppy before you commit.

A Maltipoo is a cross between a Maltese and a Toy or Miniature Poodle. Maltipoos typically live 12 to 15 years with good care, while some are able to reach 17 years or more. They are small, low-shedding companion dogs bred for affection, adaptability, and intelligence. They are not recognized by the AKC as a purebred breed, but they are one of the most popular designer breeds in the country. They come in a wide range of colors including white, cream, apricot, red, chocolate, black, silver, and parti-color patterns. Most Maltipoos weigh between 5 and 15 pounds and stand 8 to 14 inches tall at the shoulder. Maltipoo dogs bred from Toy Poodles grow on the smaller end. Maltipoo dogs from Miniature Poodle crosses are slightly larger and sturdier.

Maltipoos are affectionate, playful, and people-oriented. They bond closely with their families and thrive on daily interaction and attention. They are smart and easy to train using treats and praise, which makes them a great choice for first-time dog owners. They are gentle enough for quieter households and playful enough to keep up with active families. They are not big barkers by nature, though they may alert you to visitors or unusual sounds. Remember that Maltipoos prefer to be around humans and other company. They not do well when left alone for long stretches. They are companion dogs by nature, and too much alone time can lead to anxiety and destructive behavior. Households where someone is home often are the best fit. Crate training and conditioning to alone time from puppyhood helps significantly.

Both Maltese and Poodles are low-shedding, hypoallergenic breeds as purebreds, so Maltipoos shed very little and are considered hypoallergenic. Loose hair in their coat tends to stay trapped in the coat rather than falling around your home, which makes them much friendlier for allergy sufferers than most breeds. At Posh Puppies Indiana, we keep both F1 and F1B Maltipoos in our program, so if your allergies are more severe, we welcome you to visit and spend time with our Maltipoos before committing.

Brushing a Maltipoo three to four times per week using a slicker brush and a metal comb to check for tangles close to the skin will help reduce the amount of professional grooming they need. Depending on what haircut you prefer, professional grooming every eight to twelve weeks is recommended. The Teddy Bear Cut is the most popular choice, leaving the coat soft and rounded. The Puppy Cut keeps things short and easy to maintain between appointments. Groomers usally charge less for smaller breeds, which makes the financial committment of Maltipoo grooming manageable.

At Posh Puppies Indiana, we completely understand that smaller breeds like Maltipoos come with genetic health concerns, which is why we focus on health-testing. That being said, Maltipoos are generally healthy with a long lifespan, but there are several conditions worth knowing before you buy: Patellar luxation is the most common orthopedic issue in the breed, especially for smaller types like teacups. Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) is an inherited eye condition that causes gradual vision loss and can lead to blindness. White Shaker Syndrome causes full-body tremors and is seen more often in small white breeds, like Maltese. It is treatable with medication but requires lifelong management. Portosystemic shunts in small toy breeds is a liver condition where blood bypasses normal filtration. Signs include stunted growth, disorientation, and seizures. Hypoglycemia is also a risk in very small puppies. Feed young Maltipoos small meals every three to four hours and keep a glucose supplement on hand.

Yes! Maltipoos are gentle, social, and adaptable dogs that do well in a wide range of households. They are affectionate with children and enjoy being part of family activity. Because of their small size, homes with very young children should be taught how to play carefully and delicately with Maltipoo puppies. With other pets, Maltipoos generally get along well when introduced properly. They are not aggressive or territorial and do not bark a lot, and most adapt easily to homes with other dogs or cats they have been raised alongside. They fit well in apartments, smaller homes, and quieter households. Their moderate exercise needs, easygoing temperament, and low-shedding coat make them one of the most versatile small companion breeds available. At Posh Puppies Indiana, we would love to help you find the right Maltipoo for your family. Reach out to ask about available puppies or upcoming litters.
